Frequently asked questions

  • I see clients on weekdays, evenings and weekends.

I usually am able to help find a time that works for you.

By travelling to your home, you save travel time to and from the appointment. This means some people find it easier to schedule their work or other commitments around counselling sessions.

  • Please see my Counselling page for current fees for counselling services.

  • No. However, if you are self- or plan-managed you might still be able to claim my fees through NDIS, depending on what services have been approved in your plan.

For plan managed (and self managed) clients, I can offer an invoice so you are not out of pocket. Just let me know if you need this.

  • No medicare rebates are available for counsellors. However, it is likely that my fees are well below or comparable to what you would pay a psychologist after you receive a medicare rebate.

Because the current wait times are very long to see a psychologist, some people choose to see a counsellor. They may see a counsellor instead of a psychologist, or just whilst they are waiting for an appointment psychiatrists, psychologists and counsellors.with a psychologist.

Click here for a brief overview of differences between psychiatrists, psychologists and counsellors.

Some funds have specific requirements for invoices they will accept. Let me know if you are registered with a health fund and I can provide you with a receipt for your specific fund.

You will need to contact your fund about claiming eligibility for counselling services & their processes.

  • You can pay using cash, bank transfer or credit card.

NDIS clients can also pay through their plan manager.

  • If you are in crisis I recommend that you contact a crisis service ASAP. Some even operate 24/7, so you can get help night or day. I have made a list of crisis services that help people via phone, text, chat and email here: Crisis Contact Numbers.

If the situation is life threatening, please call 000 or go to your nearest emergency department.

  • I currently only offer 1:1 counselling for people 16 years and older. For children under 16yrs I offer parent work.

  • I charge a 50% cancellation fee for cancellations with less than 2hrs notice.

This is part of my trauma-informed, neurodiversity affirming practice as many Autistics struggle with executive functioning. ADHDers do as well, and they end up paying a dispropriate amount of late fees and penalties compared to the rest of the population (AKA ADHD-tax)..

Mobile Counselling

  • All we will need is somewhere where we can sit and talk privately.

You do not need to offer me something to drink or give me a tour of your house.

Don’t worry if your house is a bit messy or untidy, I have been to lots of people’s houses and seen a lot of things.

  • All pets are welcome during the session - as long as they are not aggressive. I do not have any allergies to any animals.

  • I am 100% mobile and do not have a counselling office. Some alternatives might be:

    (a) negotiate with your roommates/family members to leave the house - or not access a certain part of the house - for an hour whilst you’re having counselling.

    (b) some people have an alternative place where they can do their counselling session, like their office or a relative’s house.

Because my practice is completely mobile, if there is no suitable place for you to see a counsellor in your home, you might be better suited to see a counsellor with an office.
